Be water secure with the help of the latest technologies and solutions
We need water to survive, yet more than 2 billion people globally are dependent on contaminated water sources. Contaminated water can transmit diseases and according to the World Health Organization (WHO), this alone will account for an estimated 485,000 diarrhoeal deaths each year.
Water security is crucial and new technologies and systems are continually being developed to provide potable water options in the face of increasing risks to the already-scarce freshwater resources worldwide. In fact, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas by 2025.
SA is looking at how the LifeStraw and Good Water systems can provide clean drinking water in areas where potable water is not easily accessible, and how readily it will be adopted. We are also exploring this as part of our CSR efforts, for use in disaster-relief.
